The Bang Brothers Hockey series has been a joy to read and will make you smile as you turn the pages. Each book focuses on a Bang sibling and Mama Bang. Hook Em Hard is the last book in the series and it's Tanner's story. He is the youngest of the Bang siblings and can't escape Mama Bang's matchmaking skills. Maeve is the physiotherapist for Tanner's hockey team. There is an attraction right from the start. Tanner is focused on his career but Mama Bang is pushing him to bring a plus one to the wedding he is going to. When Maeve's bestie sends a hook-up text to the wrong Tanner, Maeve is faced with a dilemma, either hook up or just stay friends. The only thing is they need to keep the relationship a secret and Maeve doesn't want to be in the media. Tanner is her white knight or her knight in shining armor. The two of them have a connection that is strong and their chemistry is evident right from the start. Danger follows her but there is a mystery about how and who is involved.

3.75 stars. This story is dual POV, well written, and an off limits, contemporary hockey romance. I empathised with Maeve’s history and understood how it had ongoing ramifications in her daily choices. I enjoyed seeing her work on her personal growth to be more self-confident and independent from those she had previously relied on. I enjoyed Tanner’s patience and appreciated his concerns about being enough and/or the best person for Maeve. I enjoyed the relationship development.

4 1/2 stars. I enjoyed this story and the series. My heart went out to Maeve as she had been hurt physically and emotionally in her past that kept her hiding in the shadows and barely living life. An opportunity presented itself for her to move forward, albeit slowly. She was a lot stronger than she gave herself credit for but did not trust herself. Tanner was a breath of fresh air as he fell in love with Maeve from their first meeting, but he kept it to himself and stayed loyal to her.
