“In this report, Technological change mitigates the upward pressure on land values caused by growth in population and other factors by increasing the “effective” supply of land. Without technological change during the postwar period, lad values would be substantially higher. Government acreage reduction programs, by creating an artificial scarcity of land, have counteracted some of the effects of technological change and placed upward pressure on farmland values.”
