Jerry Thomas (1830-1885) was an American bartender now considered the father of American mixology. In addition to writing How to Mix Drinks, his inspired recipes and showmanship paved the way for bartending as a creative profession, which is why he is often referred to as “Professor” Jerry Thomas.
David Wondrich started writing about cocktails for Esquire in 1999. Imbibe, his 2007 tribute to Professor Jerry Thomas, has become an essential text for bartenders and cocktail geeks alike and was the first cocktail book to win a James Beard award.
