The effects of Derrida's writings have been widespread in literary circles, where they have transformed current work in literary theory. Hugh J. Silverman is Professor of Philosophy and Comparative Literature at SUNY, Stony Brook. He is the author of Inscriptions: Between Phenomenology andStructuralism, also published by Routledge, and is the general editor of the Continental Philosophy series.
