About this eBook

Boozing.  Womanizing.  Brawling.  Singing.  For the last forty years George Jones has reigned as the country's king--the singer many have called the Frank Sinatra of country.  And for most of that time, his career has been marked by hard-living, hard-loving, and hard luck.  From his early east Texas recordings through his marriage with Tammy Wynette to his latest acclaim as a solid citizen and "high-tech red-neck," Americans have been fascinated with Jones, never even knowing whether he's going to show up for his next concert.

Now, in I Lived To Tell It All, George Jones supplies a no-holds-barred account of his excesses and ecstasies.  How alcohol ruled his life and performances.  How  violence marred many friendships and relationships.  How money was something to be made but never held on to.  And, finally, how the love of a good woman can ultimately change a man, redeem him, and save his life.

When I started reading this book, I had reasonably high hopes.... and well let me tell you, about 6 hours or so later when I finally convinced my arms to put the book down ... because I had reached the end.. damn it, I wanted more!!! It's one of my absolute favorite books of all time. And though I never had the honor of seeing George Jones in person/ concert... I did however have the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Nancy Jones. I purchased a bottle of George Jones White Lighting Moonshine from her, and she signed the bottle for me and then we talked for a short period of time and then she had the people in the kitchen make me an order of the absolute hands down best fried green tomatoes I have ever had. She thanked me and left... later I realized that it would've been there...16th(or 17th or something around there) wedding anniversary that day... it was an amazing experience.

I love this book. It amazes me George lived as long as he did, after what he put his body through. I laughed at his hijinks, and shed tears at his troubles. What a crazy fast life he led. This book is just packed to the brim! Both my father and brother were Manic Depressive alcohol/drug users. Like George, they also lived life on the edge. George was so gifted, but so troubled. Nancy was truly his angel. Bless that woman for saving him.

This man has lived a colorful life and many statements have been made about him. But this book states that most people fantasize over celebrities, although they don't have all the facts. Read this and you will.
