ਇਸ ਈ-ਕਿਤਾਬ ਬਾਰੇ

The exhibition entitled “The Masters of Byssus, Silk and Linen” (13-22 May, 2017; Rectorate Palace, Sapienza University of Rome) intends to highlight the way in which, by processing raw materials, high quality fabrics can be achieved, which are then embellished by the weaver’s hand, as it was done in ancient times with silk and linen and is still practiced today with byssus.

The unwoven fibers and/or fabrics were dyed in order to add extra beauty to the fabric. The exhibition, organized by the Commodity Science Museum, the Chemistry Museum “Primo Levi” and the “Polo Museale Sapienza” (PMS), with the collaboration of the Cultural Association “Visioni e Illusioni”, with the patronage of the Polish Institute of Rome, intends to highlight the additional value of fabrics when they are processed by the Artists, who are better defined as Masters of Byssus, Silk and Linen.

ਲੇਖਕ ਬਾਰੇ

Małgorzata Biniecka, university degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy. Associate Professor in the Department of Management at Sapienza University of Rome since 2001. Director of the Commodity Science Museum since 2011. Author of over 100 publications related to the food, chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, cultural heritage, fashion, cosmetics and jewellery sector.

Paola Campana, university degree in Economics and Commerce. Ph.D. in Commodity Science. Assistent Professor in the Department of Management at Sapienza University of Rome since 2004; Adjunct Professor since 2007. Winner of the National Competition for Associate Professors in 2015. Director of the training course in Euro Project Planning. Author of numerous international publications in the field of Commodity Science.

Marcella Guiso, university degree in Chemistry, Researcher at the National Research Council. Until her retirement, she was Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at Sapienza University of Rome. Her research activity focused both on the new structures of natural organic substances. Author of about a hundred publications in international journals; specifically, she does research on natural dyes used in the field of Cultural Heritage.

Patrizia Falconi, university degree in Literature, works at the Commodity Science Museum of the Management Department at Sapienza University of Rome and is author of a few publications in the field of Commodity Science.

Raffaella Preti, university degree in Biology, PhD degree in Commodity Sciences. Author of several international publications in the field of food and environmental chemistry. Presently, she works at The Laboratory of Commodity Sciences of Sapienza University of Rome.
