Alexandre Dumas nacque a Villers-Cotterets (Francia) il 24 luglio 1802. Oltre a I tre moschettieri (1844), scrisse altri romanzi per lo più di argomento storico, come Il conte di Montecristo. Morì nel 1870 a Puys, un paesino della Normandia.
