We bought the audio book for a long trip. It was a huge disappointment. The string Scottish accent was irritating and the whole book depressingly mundane. The cold grey skies of Edinburgh permeated through the story line. Tired old cops, in drab cold buildings. Sorry Ian. We have loved your books before.

After the previous one, which was a bit mundane, this is a diamond in the crown! It's Rebus at his best and Ian Rankin showing his true self with his passion!

Rebus, in retirement, is still engrossing.
