About this ebook

Kyouhei is the kind of person who cherishes every moment of his peaceful, ‘normal’ everyday life. Choose whichever synonym you like; he just wants a quiet life. However, with his dad being involved in some really shady businesses, his best friend being a wannabe rockstar, and his schoolmate Sanae... being Sanae, that’s easier said than done, but he does his best.

One day, he ends up accidentally releasing a naked girl from a coffin, who has no idea what ‘normal’ means. Unfortunately for him, Kyouhei can kiss that peace and quiet goodbye.

Now, on top of his dad’s lack of regard for anything approaching common sense or decency, his friend’s thirst for excitement, and his admirer’s... attention, Kyouhei has to deal with a (self-proclaimed) body double android of a princess from some European country?

He just wants off this fake fake princess’ wild ride!

It's silly. It's story loaded with gag situations which at first seem contrived but as the story progresses and more quirky characters are introduced, a baseline weirdness begins to set in that frames just how much Kyouhei struggles to be normal despite being (or perhaps his dad's business) being a supermagnet for trouble. It's as if the story starts off making you think it's a slice of life gone wrong, but by the end you find out the MC is already somewhat proficient with a firearm and you realise that it was all an illusion from the beginning. One aspect that feels perhaps a bit too repetitive is how the two main girls so far, Pamil and Sanae, are given a detailed paragraph description of her features pretty much every story beat. I get that Pamil is like a fair skinned with silky blonde hair and Sanae is apparently a japanese beauty. This is most likely an artefact from originally being a 2006 monthly serialisation, which also helps to explain other aspects of the story telling. I do appreciate that while the majority of the story has been loosely connected gag sequences, towards the end we start seeing how the MC is trying to (perhaps dangerously) positively reinforce the better part of Pamil's morals, though he may actually die before the end of the series at this rate. Just about a 4/5

First, remember that this book is mostly just a really long prologue for the setting. It does lack a clear climax, which can feel rather off, but if you keep the above in mind it works just fine. Although several of the characters feel like they follow some pre-established tropes the way they are used is distinct, helping it to stand out from the main stream. Overall I found it to be a rather enjoyable book and am looking forward to the next volume.
