About this eBook

IMPERIUM LUPI

A decade has passed since the last Howler War and the City of Lupa stands peaceful again under the choking clouds of the Ashfall. The wild hyenas have been conquered, the little beasts remain subdued, and the wolf packs preserve their uneasy oligarchy thanks to the noxious power of imperium. However, new threats fester within the Lupan Wall. There are those who would overturn the rule of the Den Fathers, if not the dominion of wolfkind altogether, by persuasion, murder, even genocide, if that’s what it takes.

Imperium Lupi is a gritty, steampunk, fantasy adventure packed with intrigue and flexible morals. The true monsters are not the giant insects that stalk the wild world of Erde, but the beasts who don the mask of civility to cover their crooked convictions.

Black and white is not something you're going to find on this twisting tale of lupine metropolis. Whether it's chivalrous terrorist, idealistic fool or cynical law-enforcer fighting fire with fire, the moral landscape of the story remain resolutly muddy and nuanced - not to a point that you cannot tell hero from vallan but a farcry from heavy-handed message-pushing or idiotically simple that is common in fantacy epic of this scale. To this end, who cannot but be suprised and delighted. It give rise to fresh and bone characters, belivable motives and theatrical dialoges that keep both of heart and mind sucked to pages after page. If there is a slight drawback to this approach, that is the hedging makes the payoff lighter. Whomever is your champion of choice, whatever ideology you subscribed to, I wouldn't imagine one find their utmost satisfaction at the finale. But perhaps that is for the best. The laughs (numerous and cackling in my case), or tears, heart-stopper or trumphent soars all happened anyway which is what gives this read my utmost parise and recommendation. It's not Game of Thrones, believe me, but beats it. Or, you don't care about all that smart beast making smart politics. You're here to make acquaintance of some hansome, awkward, hunking lupine mucles, then I don't know what are you doing reading the comments(in fact I don't know why anyone should read these comments), dive right in!, there are plenty of them in here ;-)

Enjoyed the book as a whole, after reading it through and through. The story's appeal would come from the transition around the characters as the story progresses. They can be compared to clay in a furnace, for their character molds and forges by the events in the story, some even being changung after being broken beyond repair. The story also pieces together like clay in a furnace, the elements are shown but they show their true character until the conflict is in full motion. Thus, I reccomend giving the first part of Imperium some slack, and special scrutiny. Some details would become important later, even add a better impression for the existing story. I recomend the story for those who like adventure and a deep scheme, along with a few footnotes to catch on the terms. Not many, as the terms are more natural than first seen. Looking for a next story, not a sequel but a new leaf on Erde. I will keep an eye on the author's works just in case.

With a host of compelling characters in a refreshing and lovingly crafted world, Imperium Lupi masterfully blends action, politics, and conspiracies. With a well written and strong narrative, even the lulls are used to great effect and I found myself invested in not just my favorite characters, but the world as a whole. This all comes together to create a story that leaves you wanting more, and Imperium Lupi is hands down one of the best books I have ever read.
