Days after being taken by Vikings, Aoife finds himself on a ship bound for Sigurd's home. But when a rogue wave threatens the ship and everyone on it, many among the crew turn against Sigurd, blaming him and his thrall for their misfortune. Now Aoife's life hangs in the balance, and his only hope for survival is Sigurd. But to save his thrall, he must turn against the very men he leads.
