A fascinating book, but REALLY badly scanned. I know that there are problems in scanning old books where the scanner reads through to print on the opposite side of the page, and even the original document may not be of the best quality, but there really is little excuse for inconsistent and poor quality work like this.
Like many books of the period, it's a heavy read, with very verbose descriptions and few illustrations. It's not something I'd recommend except to someone with sufficient interest and/or passion for the subject that they can forgive these short comings.
The information is preserved, the book is readable, but the poor scanning makes this document, which is already difficult to read because of it's basic nature, much harder work.
