Maida’s Little Shop is an ideal story for any parent or teacher to read to their children. Unlike many movies, books, TV shows, and other such media, Maida’s Little Shop is completely clean and wholesome, with no foul language, violence, or promiscuous material. Maida’s Little Shop is a story about Maida, the frail, nine year-old daughter of a wealthy businessman, who is recovering from various health problems after a surgery. In order to restore meaning to his daughter’s life, Maida’s father sets her up as a shopkeeper of a tiny store in a small town. Maida goes through both physical and emotional healing, as she meets new people, makes friends of individuals from all different kinds of backgrounds and social standings, and discovers the importance of friendship and hope. This heartwarming story, set in the early nineteen hundreds, provides vivid descriptions that will enhance your child’s imagination, presents a sweet simplicity that will inspire your child with a vision of wondrous beauty in the world around, and invokes a patience and understanding in your child when dealing with others. Irwin paints a masterpiece that children of all ages will love as they learn and grow with Maida and her little shop.
