About this ebook

A technical drawing (e.g. a CAD data set) must contain all the relevant information in order to ensure reliable function, cost-effective production and task-oriented workpiece inspection. A good technical drawing should thus be functional as well as suitable for manufacture and testing.

A comprehensive formal descriptive language has been created for a product's geometric specifications using GPS standards and, in particular, the latest changes in standardization. This makes it possible to create a complete and unambiguous technical drawing which meets the requirements.

This book looks at the different aspects of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure functionality, production suitability and, most importantly, compliance with standards. An overview of the international GPS standards (including the differences to ASME standardization) is also provided along with enhanced possibilities for defining the measurement strategy in the technical drawing.

Additionally, 14 rules on inspection-oriented tolerancing are derived and explained.
