Invasive species -- harmful nonnative plants, animals, and microorganisms -- pose a serious threat to U.S. ag. and the environ., with estimated damages exceeding billions of dollars. Invasive species are found in all 50 states, with Florida and Hawaii more seriously affected than others. In Feb. 1999, Pres. Clinton issued Exec. Order 13112 to help prevent the intro. of invasive species; provide for their control; and minimize their impact on the economy, the environ., and human health. This report identifies: fed. and state funding by dep't. and activity for invasive species activities in FY Ô99 and Ô00. Includes views on the effectiveness of coordination efforts. Charts and tables.
