Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott is a classic example of adventure literature.

It is a pure “English” novel which describes the actions happening due to the death feud between Anglo-Saxons and Norman conquerors. After The Third Crusade, knights-crusaders come back home. Unfortunately, King Richard the Lionheart is captured by the Duke of Austria. His brother and a throne keeper Prince John (future John Lackland) would like to save a royal throne for him. But will the crusaders who were fighting together with King Richard agree to this? And the main question – who is this mysterious “disinherited” knight who always prevents Prince John’s servants, noble Norman landowners from implementing their plans? What secret is he hiding?
