About this ebook

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play received its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

A very unfortunate addition to a revered series. I'm not sure exactly how much of Rowling went into this script, but it's diabolical either way. The plot is absurd and runs contrary to established Potter lore, and the characters were knew and really cared about seem to do total personality 180s. Sadly, they're bound to just make another movie (or two!) out of this mess and the Harry Potter series will forever have it's own 'Phantom Menace'.

Full of plot holes and the unwelcome addition of some very poorly executed time travel. I think it had huge potential for exploring Albus' and Scorpius's time at Hogwarts, but unfortunately it read more like a badly written fanfiction. This did nothing for the otherwise amazing Harry Potter series, and I would rather pretend it hadn't been written.

An absolute ridiculous plot! So many holes, so many ideas rushed and jammed into one narrative! It was reminiscent of badly conceived fan fiction! JK has lost all notion of her characters- 'He who should not be named' getting his sexy on was, one, an undesirable mental image and two, not the actions of a narcissistic power hungry dictator- there is no way he would breed 'competition'!
