I could hardly put this book down. Every moment that I was awake and not working, I spent reading this book. It's different from most forms of zombie media. It isn't all action and gore. There are some tense moments, but I kind of feel like they lose value considering the book is in journal format. That means every situation he writes about is after the experience. He lived to write about it. I found it hard to get that 'in the moment' anxiety feeling of hiding from the walking dead, and staying alive. But I definitely enjoyed other aspects. The careful planning of how to stay out of harms way, weighing the pros and cons of each action, keeping your morals in a situation where it could get you killed, and the different aspects of human nature post-disaster. I'm rooting for our unnamed protagonist and the crew he's' gathered. It is a good read, and I recommend it.

The book isn't exactly bad , but it's characters are mind numbingly boring. Main character has nothing defining his personality, and neither do any other characters. Being done in a "journal entry" format, there is no dialogue between characters, so you really don't feel any connection to any of them. I got about 180 pages in, and couldn't stomach the rest. Not worth the $10 or the time it will take you to read.

The book shows amazing realistic ways of survival and how people sloy get to know about the virus. I enjoyed reading it. I am waiting for part 2 to be shipped. i recommend it if you are REALLY into zombies
