Sometimes Life Gives Murder a Second Chance

It was the case that destroyed Detective Justin Shakespeare's career, beginning a downward spiral of self-loathing and self-destruction lasting half a decade. And today things are only going to get worse. The Widow Rapist is free on a technicality, and it is up to Detective Shakespeare and his partner Amber Trace to find the evidence, five years cold, to put him back in prison before he strikes again.

But Shakespeare and Trace aren't alone in their desire for justice. The Seven are the survivors, avowed to not let the memories of their loved ones be forgotten. And with the release of the Widow Rapist, they are determined to take justice into their own hands, restoring balance to a flawed system.

At stake is a second chance, a chance at redemption, a chance to salvage a career destroyed, a reputation tarnished, and a life diminished.

A chance brought to Detective Shakespeare whether he wants it or not.

A chance brought to him by The Redeemer.

Amazing fast paced story. Loved the twists and turns and couldn't put it down. Also really appreciated that the author didn't try to tone down or make the book more kid friendly as many others do. The very adult violence and themes, along with a truly scary villain enhance the story and really make this a memorable read that sticks with you. Highly recommend the entire Detective Shakespeare series. Absolutely top drawer.

I loved reading this 3rd installment of the Justin Shakespeare series. The first 2 books are all tied to this one beautifully. Kennedy has created several likable characters, none more so than Det. Shakespeare himself. He's clearly a flawed human but ultimately he doesn't allow that to define him. Det. Trace is perfect as his partner, and the rest of the squad are rounded out as well. If you like a detective thriller, this series won't disappoint. I recommend starting with the first book, but this one, The Redeemer, could work as a stand alone. This is a more than an enthusiastic 5 stars!
