McDevitt is an exceptional writer. The chracters, their names!, the AI, the story arc and plot shapes. I have read much SciFi. Jack is providing at least as much and likely more SciFi reading pleasure then I have had in awhile. The experience of reading. Suddenly coming back to the room I am in having been for a few moments out side in a e-suit with Hutch, in the dark tunnels walking, standing, waiting with Tor for 'a lift'. That takes writing which engages my imagination and creates a full experience.

Starts off well, drags a bit but the setup for the rescue was very interesting.

Fantastic Book!!! A Wide and extensively vision, fill with overwhelming vistas on a Universal scale. A long veiw in the order not seen by many authors, read it 4 times!!! Fantastic book!!!
