About this ebook

In this powerful, intimate memoir, a mother of three shares her story of unbearable loss, darkest despair, and her cautious return to hope and love.

After the accident on a New York State parkway that took the lives of her three beloved daughters—Emma, age eight; Alyson, age seven; and Katie, age five—suburban wife and mom Jackie Hance’s reality was the stuff of every parent’s worst nightmare. And nothing—including her lifelong faith—could ever explain the heartbreaking facts: the girls were killed in a minivan driven by their aunt, Jackie’s sister-in-law, Diane Schuler, while returning from a camping weekend on a sunny July morning. I’ll See You Again heartrendingly portrays a family tragedy few of us can imagine surviving, and how the power of forgiveness and the support of a tight—knit community gradually provided the courage and strength for Jackie and her husband to find a place of redemption, rebirth, and hope.

I struggle to find the words to give this book the justice it deserves on so many levels. This book puts into words the lifesaving love of friends and community, the raw feelings and thoughts that everyone feels enhanced by the powerful emotions experienced by such a tragic and crushing loss, in the hope that others may understand and know that they are not alone in whatever misery they may experience. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but the road before remains there and is never forgotten.

As I read the book I was heartbroken, mad and surprised. This is an honest account of what a mother and wife went through after the tragic loss of her daughters. Everything she wrote was what I was thinking- she answered all the questions I, as a mother, had. How do you even begin to get through this. What she went through was unbearable, but in the end there was a ray of sunshine...life can go on, no matter how hard or how much you don't want it to. Beautiful.
