Van Merck is angry that Sierra decided to run before giving them a chance. His domineering attitude takes over, and instead of taking her departure as a sign that Sierra wants nothing to do with him or Roman, he kidnaps her. Sparks fly when they first meet, and he's willing to do anything to make sure Sierra ends up a permanent part of their lives.

Roman Trance goes along with Van's idea of kidnapping Sierra. The immense attraction he feels toward her equals the lust he has for Van. And he's intent on wooing her with his gentle patience because he has no intention of choosing between Van or Sierra.
