These memoirs follow the very hasty commissioning of a new ship, follow her across the Atlantic and through operations in the South Atlantic. Then it's the long journey home. A great insight in to life onboard one of her majesty's ships, always entertaining, thoughtful and occasionally sad. Well worth a read

He has subsequently built a reputation as a writer of high-class, authentic and action-packed thrillers.
