About this ebook

When a geomagnetic storm results from a solar flare and coronal mass ejection the question isn't how did it happen, but how do you now survive? In a world without electricity, water, constant food sources, or even reliable shelter…how do you live?

This is the question posed to a young man who finds himself stuck 700 miles from home. The best idea is to make his way there…or is it?

Along the way he will encounter roving gangs of civil war reenactors, a church leading the way to rapture, cannibals, casinos powered by the debts of their customers, and the most dangerous of them all: Boy Scouts.

James P Hassell is back at it with a cutting ability to throw our world into chaos and in the process expose the dark secrets of humanity that no one wants to face. His unflinching style in examining the darkest recesses of humanity is as disturbing as it is enlightening.

About the author

I really hate talking about myself. Born in New Orleans, raised in East Texas, spent a stint in Alabama, and I'm one of the least "southern" people out there. Accused of being from California and the North East, I've never been to either. I did spend a week in Scotland though.

I started We Are The Apex in the hopes of making independent publishing a better place than it was. I'm a sucker for an underdog story I suppose, but it has given life to something pretty special already and we are just getting started.

I take writing in a raw and gritty format because the world has become a little too plastic and shiny. I like the dirt of the human experience, and do not believe in political correctness for the sake of being PC. I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea, but I know I'm not the only one out there looking for something a little more real.
