About this ebook

NOW A PRIME ORIGINAL TV SERIES

Tiamat's Wrath is the eighth book in the New York Times bestselling and Hugo-award winning Expanse series.

Thirteen hundred gates have opened to solar systems around the galaxy. But as humanity builds its interstellar empire in the alien ruins, the mysteries and threats grow deeper.

In the dead systems where gates lead to stranger things than alien planets, Elvi Okoye begins a desperate search to discover the nature of a genocide that happened before the first human beings existed, and to find weapons to fight a war against forces at the edge of the imaginable. But the price of that knowledge may be higher than she can pay.

At the heart of the empire, Teresa Duarte prepares to take on the burden of her father's godlike ambition. The sociopathic scientist Paolo Cortázar and the Mephistophelian prisoner James Holden are only two of the dangers in a palace thick with intrigue, but Teresa has a mind of her own and secrets even her father the emperor doesn't guess.

And throughout the wide human empire, the scattered crew of the Rocinante fights a brave rear-guard action against Duarte's authoritarian regime. Memory of the old order falls away, and a future under Laconia's eternal rule - and with it, a battle that humanity can only lose - seems more and more certain. Because against the terrors that lie between worlds, courage and ambition will not be enough . . .

The Expanse is the biggest science fiction series of the last decade and is now a major TV series.

better writing than the previous book, but still written like script to bad soap opera, and 90% of it is just filler. If it was a movie it would not probably be so terrible, but it makes for boring read. First books had really bad character creation, so the last ones a little better on it, however, with a lot less divergence between charaters, but the main plot is getting worse and worse. I was hoping at least for interesting ending for this part, yet we get superhero-saves-a-day-from-stupid-people kind of yet again.

9 books into The Expanse universe and it's been evident for a while that it is the most apt of titles for the series. Such an immersive experience, with the longevity of the series creatng a depth to the characters that is almost unparalleled. I am very much saddened by the fact that the next book in the series is the last, but I'm certain that it is going to be a fitting finale. The authors have such an exquisite way of building tension throughout each book, and throughout the series overal, but also beautifully capture humanity at its best and worst. As with the TV series, I will definitely be revisiting these books.

#8 continues the best sci-fi saga ever. Epic, tragic, inspiring both tears & smiles. Still get that rush & sense of wonder at every turn. It's exactly right length & un-put-downable, but I still wish it was longer! Clear your weekend, Gentle Reader & settle in for another Expanse page-turner!
