Here the individual is discouraged, freedom is an illusion, food is rationed, and everything you do is tracked by a chip implanted in your arm. This is Dana Ginary’s world.

At age seventeen, people receive their career assignments chosen for them by a government body. Forced to work at the Waste Management Plant because she was declared too individualistic, Dana finds herself surrounded by death and brutality. Knowing her days are numbered, she looks for a way to leave the plant before she, too, becomes one of its causalities.

It is then she meets a man named George and soon finds herself caught up in a cat and mouse game between the resistance and the Dystopian government. Dana finds herself faced with an agonizing choice of whom she will betray and whom she will save: her friend George, her parents, or herself.

The eyes are always watching.

Oh my. The story was interesting. The writing...quite horrible. Very elementary, as if it was written for a 6 year old. There were also big holes in the story that primarily stemmed from little to no character development. A girl who is so naive and doesn't even know how to protect herself suddenly knows how to pick a lock with a pin from her hair. She fights and punches people unconscious without ever having learned any self defense. She knocks out a grown man, then pick him up off the ground and places him in his chair to make him look like he's sleeping. Cars are banned in Dystopia except for the elite so, despite never having even been in a car, when she's escaping, she knows how to turn on and drive the car from a "description of the mechanics" her father gave her once. Seriously?? I really wanted to like this book but it was so predictable and the characters were so superficial, they had no substance. The world that the author has created has no depth and the reader is left with way too many questions. The first book was free and the second book is only $2.65..don't think I'm going to read it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the way it was written (easy to follow without too much jumping around) but....was very disappointed with the way the book ended. I understand needing to "set up" for the next book - but....this was not advertised as a series and therefore I was truly thrown for a loop.....not the authors fault - I intend to get the next 2 books - looking forward to see how Dana realizes her owner empowerment.

I get the feeling this was written for a young audience. The storyline is interesting but lacks depth. I get that this is a novella but it just felt there was not enough descriptive information in the storyline.
