Alex and Maria are friends and co-workers tasked with an assignment crucial to their country’s survival. The last thing they need is to fall in love. Minding Her Boss’s Business is book 1 in the Dynasties: The Montoros. The series centers around the Montoro family who is the rightful royal family of the fictional country Alma. Years ago, the Montoros were forced out of their home country and took up residence in Miami. Now Alma needs them back and Alex and Maria are part of a team that has been delegated to restore the Montoro family to their rightful place. Janice Maynard wrote a beautiful story about unexpected love. Enjoyed it a great deal, my one pet peeve is that the story progressed a little to fast. Received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

I love how Maynard jumps right into the thick of the story, providing instant immersion for the reader. She wields her pen to create a wonderfully romantic tale that I thoroughly enjoyed. The mix of business and pleasure was taken to a whole new level. The prim and proper-ness of the main characters is such a contrast to what we normally encounter in romance novels. Alex and Maria’s relationship was fantastically rocky. The combination of business relationship with sexual chemistry added to the complexity of it all. Maria’s success at rising above the ashes and making something of herself put her in the spotlight in a very specific way. Her relationship with her mother took her from a character that I really liked to one that I loved. Alex’s focus on duty and what he should be doing, which directly conflicts with what he felt, made him quite a perplexing individual. You get a feel for the entire Montoro family and what they’re facing coming into this series while still focussing on these two fantastic main characters. I’ll admit that I’m a little bit in love with Isabella. She’s the perf

I liked this! I liked that the heroine was really independent and career-oriented...I hope I'll also like the succeeding stories as well as I believe they will be written by different authors...
