About this ebook

First published as Countermeasures, a ticking clock and opposites attracting will keep readers on the edge of their seat in this classic story from USA TODAY bestselling author Janie Crouch!

At first it looked like a glorified babysitting job: safeguard a scientist while she created a countermeasure to neutralize a dangerous weapon that had fallen into the wrong hands. But when Dr. Megan Fuller’s life is threatened, undercover agent Sawyer Branson knows the enemy is closing in. Sticking by Megan 24/7 isn’t something he takes lightly, even if Megan doesn’t seem to appreciate his constant presence. But she soon becomes a challenge he enjoys. Because beneath her boxy lab coat and pinned-back hair lay a brilliant and beautiful warrior. One he’s determined to protect at all costs.

I really enjoyed Megan and Sawyer's story. I loved the chemistry between these two and even though they get off to a bit of a rocky start, I easily found myself fully invested in them. I liked the balance between the danger, drama, action and suspense and the blend of emotion, underlying sweetness and a touch of cute that is this couple's romance. Another great entry in this series that left me completely satisfied and eager to read book three. I am posting an independent, impartial review.

Covert picks up where Stealth left off, so it is a continuation of the story. That said, Janie Crouch does give us what we would need to be up to date, and she does it without it feeling like tedious info dumps for those already up to date. This one is an opposites-attract romance, and I think this is my favorite of the series. Don't get me wrong, they're all great, but I just love Sawyer's swagger and attitude, and then the way he fumbles around Megan. This pair may not always speak the same language when it comes to Megan's tech-speak and Sawyer's alpha male bodyguard mode, but they just fit together and complement each other perfectly. This one has all the tension and danger that I expect from a Janie Crouch romantic suspense along with loads of romantic chemistry and Janie's usual wit and sarcasm.

The charming youngest Branson just might have a bit of Bond about him. A charismatic rogue, Sawyer fits the image of the dashing super agent to a ‘T’. Though, Megan doesn’t quite fill the roll of the usual agent paramour. She’s more like Q or Emma Peel, because she’s crazy smart and not afraid to show how well she can use that great big brain of hers. I also loved that she gets the opportunity to rescue the hero once in a while instead of always being the one saved. And I adored all her social awkwardness in the beginning. That made her really easy for me to relate to. Now, with all the hints and tidbits dropped about Evan and Juliet, I can’t wait to read their book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
