By book two I'd been hoping the writing style would improve, but in my opinion it hasn't. The characters jump wildly into contrived situations and things just don't feel like they're happening organically. Emily is also pretty graphically sexualized at times, even though she's supposed to be 15. If it really suits the story and is written tastefully then it is what it is, but to read the words "moist vagina" and "her gooeyness" about an underage character feels wrong.
