If you read Jennifer Bene’s “Destruction” then you are more than ready for “Inheritance”, which is part 2 in Lianna and David’s story. It picks up a few months after where “Destruction” leaves us, as Lianna is dealing with the FBI investigation as to how much she knew about her father’s business dealings. David is, of course, right there by her side, as his usual dark and twisted self (which I LOVE!). Add a new wrench into things when Lianne’s uncle shows up from France and suddenly both Lianne and David are being pulled in 2 different directions—For Lianne, she feels like she must choose between getting to know the family that was kept from her AND David. Whereas, David must choose between Lianne AND his (and his father’s hatred) for her family. Ms. Bene gives us an amazing tug-of-war with some delicious twists thrown in. So much so that I found myself mumbling (I did try to keep it down) as I worried about both of them making the right decision. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Jennifer Bene story without all the smexy parts that will leave you panting for more

I loved this book! In general, i usually find the second book of a trilogy to be a weak link between the first and third book. That is so not the case with Inheritance. Now that David has told Lianna the truth of her past, they must find a way to move forward with theirs lives. This book is very well written and truly addresses "both sides of the same coin" in a way that made me fall deeper in love with these characters. I await the finale with bated breath! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Inheritance is a book that compels the reader to keep reading and then sigh at the end because there is no more. David is the antihero and I shouldn’t want to root for him but I do and I was so happy when he listened to Harry and told Lianna how he felt. Make no mistake, their relationship is dark and troubled and yet there is an inner core in both of them that binds them and makes them more complete. While there was good news in this book, there is also a troubling development and I can’t wait for the third book and hope for good news for David, Lianna and Harry.
