Very well written. Liked the backdrop of the story; something that happened in real life to make the story more believable. The characters are very well written and defined in a few lines so our imaginations can easily fill in the rest in comparison to our own experiences. However, the main character Piper, does something WAY out of character and it is supposed to be justified and explained away because mental illness runs in her family and she's at a very vulnerable time in her life. Ms. Weiner needs to do more homework in this regard. It's nice to have a story that moves at the pace this one does, especially because it reflects the main characters approach to her life and her world - always being one step ahead of the curve - but it lacks soul. That leads to a series of UNREAL CLIMACTIC moments in the story. There's too many characters that are supposed to inform the story but they wind up being a distraction from what should really be told...What is going on in this woman's head at a particular moment and who can help her work it out that would make the most sense for a short story. It should have been more open ended and less finished for the sophisticated reader.
