About this ebook

A poignant story about the difficulties of leaving everything behind and the friendships that help you get through it.

Fleeing war-torn Kosovo, ten-year-old Drita and her family move to America with the dream of living a typical American life. But with this hope comes the struggle to adapt and fit in. How can Drita find her place at school and in her new neighborhood when she doesn't speak any English? Meanwhile, Maxie and her group of fourth-grade friends are popular in their class, and make an effort to ignore Drita. So when their teacher puts Maxie and Drita together for a class project, things get off to a rocky start. But sometimes, when you least expect it, friendship can bloom and overcome even a vast cultural divide.

A very short, and yes indeed sweet. This story tells you a fine story of 2 girls becoming friends , no matter what they are like. It takes place with a girl (Drita) coming from a small town called Kosovo there is a lot of war, they are one of the only people who have started to escape. The other little girl (Maxie) is very inpatient and high tempered but when it is Drita's first day, she is made fun of some other kids, after winning a basketball game against those mean kids one of the girls hits Drita, Maxie sticks up for her and hits the mean girl. Although she gets in trouble it starts a relationship, while she is in the office their principle tells Maxie to do a report on Drita. This story switches back and forth from Drita to Maxie's thoughts and opinions. This story is very so short and if you are looking forward to an easy book that is a quick read look into Drita my Homegirl!
