Be careful what you wish for! Lia thought all her dreams had came true when she won a full ride to the prestigious Draycott Academy, but will it become her worst nightmare… I may no long fit in the “age group” to read a young adult novel, but I still love to read them every so often. Jesse Q. Sutanto’s The New Girl, pulled me in with its tones of Gossip Girl meets Pretty Little Liars meets Mean Girls, in what I found to be a very entertaining read. I do love a tale involving a private school that holds many secrets and rich kids who think they are invincible due to their families wealth. I got that and so more with this book. A great mystery with an interesting cast of characters that is well written, my first experience with Sutanto’s work was very enjoyable and I look forward to reading more from her.

About the author

Jesse Q. Sutanto grew up shuttling back and forth between Indonesia, Singapore, and Oxford, and considers all three places her home. She has a Masters from Oxford University, but has yet to figure out how to say that without sounding obnoxious. She has forty-two first cousins and thirty aunties and uncles, many of whom live just down the road. When she's not writing, she's gaming with her husband (mostly FPS), or making a mess in the kitchen with her two daughters. She is the author of The Obsession and The New Girl.
