About this ebook

In an edgy, seductive novel hailed by Rachel Van Dyken as “unique and gripping,” Jessica Lemmon introduces the ultimate bad boy . . . and a love that crosses all boundaries.

Morgan Young had a perfect upbringing, and now she’s got a perfect boyfriend and a perfect future—until her twenty-first birthday changes everything. First Morgan finds out, in the most painful way possible, that her relationship is a sham. But that’s nothing compared to the nightmare about to unfold.

It’s too late for Tucker Noscalo. A brutal childhood left him with a bad reputation and a criminal record. Fresh out of jail, Tucker has a score to settle with Baybrook’s crooked chief of police—his own father. Nobody will believe Tucker’s explosive accusations without proof and a good lawyer, neither of which he has on his side. Until he sees someone he used to know, someone who just so happens to be the daughter of the best lawyer in the county.

He needs Morgan to convince her father of the ugly truth. But first he has to convince her, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get her to listen. Confronted by the story of Tucker’s dark past, Morgan feels utterly compelled to help him. And as their connection grows into a fierce bond fueled by raw passion, Morgan finds herself falling for the wrong guy—but never has the promise of love felt so right.

After having the worst birthday ever, Megan walks to the nearest convenience store to buy wine. After all besides ice cream, isn’t wine a girl’s best medicine after finding out your boyfriend cheated? At the store, she runs into Tucker, a boy she went to school with. Tucker has just been released from prison and is trying to find a place in life. He sees his encounter with Megan as an opportunity. He knows Megan’s father is a highly respected defense attorney so he sees a chance to get his help. So even though he knows it’s wrong, he kidnaps Megan. He wants to prove he is innocent of all the charges that put him in prison and to make the real person pay; his cop father. Over time a friendship begins to grow between Megan and Tucker. He opens up about his past abuse at the hands of his father. As they begin to trust one another, romance blossoms. You don’t want to like Tucker because he is a kidnapper, but you can’t help feel for him. Megan is able to look past his history and see who Tucker really is and understands why he kidnapped her. This book is a little different than some of the other books. It is a little darker, no insta-love, no push/pull where the h/H fight leave/come back and the H is actually the virgin. It is told from alternating POVs. While it took a little bit of time to get into the story, this was a well written romance, touching, and emotional story. Even though the ending was wrapped up, something was missing. It was sort of an open-ended ending. What was their life like after the kidnapping? I think an epilogue would have helped. This is a stand-alone book with HEA.

I thought this one was fantastic. The story and the characters had me hooked from the very first page and I didn't put it down until the last page leaving me with one word. WOW. It's a roller coaster of emotions from beginning to end full of angst, anger, fear and tenderness. Tucker's story will grab hold of your heart as will Morgan's kindness and caring. This is a great NA read without the college campus setting. Definitely one I recommend.

I hope that anyone who is living in an abusive situation could get a small amount of hope from books like this one. It's was a little extreme to begin with but as the story unfurled it was easy to root for the happy ending he so deserved. Victims of abuse do not have to suffer through the trauma alone, and we will have a happy ending eventually. Good read.
