Donovan returns to the world of the Cascade Shifters with a flair and style that will keep you hooked. She brings this world to life in a very vivid manner that makes the world easy to picture. Not only does Donovan bring her world to life, but she develops the various types of shifters very well. I loved getting to know more about the mating ceremonies, and of the histories of the packs. This all enhanced the fast paced, at times shocking plot that kept me coming back for more. The combined undertones of segregation and racial differences really make this story pop. The main characters in this novel were a joy to get to know. Donovan develops them on many different levels, allowing readers to really get to know them. Aiden’s alpha male persona was tempered by his sense of self doubt that made him the perfect mate for Claire. Claire’s concern for Chloe did me in. This insta-family tugged at my heart in a way that made me want to see them succeed. They also really showed shifters at their best. As a whole, this novel embodied all that’s best about Donovan’s shifter world. It was a fantastic, fast paced, at times rather heated novel that kept me wanting more.

Aidan thought he had more important things to do than to babysit a human but his cougar likes the job just fine and the reader can’t help but get drawn into the story as sparks fly between Aidan and Clarie not only due to their sizzling attraction to each other but also because Claire won’t let Aidan walk all over her which causes some heated encounters and the sex scenes are hot and steamy adding lots of blistering passion. Aidan and Claire are one fiery couple that grabs reader’s attention from the very beginning and the fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers captivated with suspense and romance. Tension and expectation build throughout the story as human purists groups cause mayhem that jeopardizes everything that Claire is trying to achieve and then quickly escalates to a deadly degree. Vivid imagery captures the imagination and makes it easy for the reader to become part of the story as the suspense draws readers in and refuses to let go while a certain little girl named Chloe charms readers and steals hearts adding her own special touch to the story. Jessie Donovan’s enthralling shifter world is full of charming and charismatic characters.

Aidan Scott, human hater, was assigned to pick her up from a certain location and bring her the rest of the way blindfolded. But Aidan isn't as immune to Claire as much as he would like. Somehow a discriminating photo of her And Aiden gets leaked by the wrong people and now a cover story has to be made. But is it real a cover or the truth. Loved this story that is a self-contained story with a nice HEA. Well written and very enjoyable as well as entertaining to read.

Jessie Donovan wrote her first story at age five, and after discovering the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey in junior high, realized that people actually wanted to read stories like those floating around inside her head.
