About this ebook

In small-town Harland Creek, Grace hopes to hide from her past.

Grace Witherspoon’s experiences in New York were far from pleasant. To escape a nightmarish ex, she did the unthinkable.

Left everything behind… and ran.

The second Grace enters the sweet little town of Harland Creek, she falls in love with its neighborly ambiance. It is the perfect place to hide... as long as no one finds out who she really is. That seems easy enough to avoid until the local cop starts hanging around trying to make nice. Sure, he is the perfect man and sweetly protective, but Grace is done with men... or is she?

After catching his fiancée with another man, police officer Sloan Jackson decides it’s best to focus on crime rather than love. Unfortunately, his match-making sister is convinced Grace is perfect for Sloan. Despite his fear of being hurt again, Sloan’s heart softens the first time he lays eyes on Grace. Unfortunately, as the two grow closer, the past comes back to haunt them.

Can their budding relationship withstand the secrets bubbling to the surface? Or will all that's revealed destroy any chance at happiness Grace and Sloan could have had?

Grace is the newest addition to Harland Creek having run away from an abusive relationship. She hopes to find solace in the peaceful atmosphere of the small town. But her plans to remain isolated is destroyed when she befriends police officer Sloan Jackson's sister and through her she meets him too. Sloan who has lost faith in relationships because of his cheating ex doesn't want to trust women again. But both of them, find themselves drawn towards each other, in spite of their best efforts in not doing so. It doesn't help that Grace has a secret to hide and she doesn't know how to tell it to Sloan. Their journey towards each other despite of their mutual distrust of romantic relationships is the story. Though this book is part of a series, as far as I can tell, there is not much connect within the previous books and this book. The characters all seemed new and the only thing common is the town. That is good for any new readers who want to try the book. I liked the story well enough and found the love story to be developed organically. The romance between the lead pair has been developed realistically; their internal struggles with their distrust of people and how they overcome their emotional struggle has been perfectly done by the author Jodie Allen Brice. It was a fun, light read and I would definitely recommend it to people who love such books. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

My heart hurt for Grace and what she had gone through. She escaped, but she was always looking over her shoulder worried that her past would find her. She finally has a new life teaching dance, supportive friends, and a nice boyfriend in Sloan that recognizes he needs to take it slow with her when she sees the signs in one her students. It scares me to think a guy could have so much power over a woman to the point of where he thinks he can do whatever he wants and no one will stop him. This wasn't one of those light-hearted romances although it did have some sweet and funny moments and I cheered when Grace stood up against the bully.

Another great read by Jodi Allen Brice. A good wholesome romance about a girl trying to find hope and happiness while trying to start a new life for herself. In the process she makes new friends and helps others along the way. I liked reading this book so much that I was able to finish it in two days I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
