About this ebook

Folks say I'm reckless. I suppose loading a Texas Ranger in the ass with buckshot in my fit of jealousy earned me more scrutiny than the preacher’s wife at a Sunday potluck.

Now I work as a deputy, and the pistol on my hip is registered. I’m finally moving past all the tongue wagging about my youthful escapades. That is until Gunner Wilson, the object of said target practice, struts his cowboy boots back into town. Now he keeps showing up everywhere with that sexy grin of his.

All I want to do is solve this latest case then kick the cocky, tattooed lawman to the curb. But Gunner has gotten under my skin. And hell, that’s a problem, because I’ve made a new life in Pistol Rock, one that doesn’t include my hotter than hell ex-boyfriend. Except now I need his help...and asking a favor from Gunner might cost me more than just a pair of panties...
The Deputy Laney Briggs series is best enjoyed in order.

The steady to fast paced plot keeps readers guessing with lots of suspense, action and romance. The tension steadily builds throughout the story as the plot thickens and more suspects are added to the list and with each twist the case gets more complicated ensuring that the reader gets caught up in the story. The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention from the beginning. The chemistry between Laney and her ex, Gunnar burns hotter than the Texas sun throughout the story and the romance has sparks flying everywhere as the couple clashes at every turn. The relationship is also complicated by the fact that Lacey is engaged to the local veterinarian and then there’s a third suitor lurking in the shadows which adds lots of spice to the story as each one of them have different personalities and history with the deputy. I enjoyed this multi-twisted plot with its multitude of suspects although I did find some aspects of the story to be a little unreal. But the intriguing story line, snarky dialogue and was still a quite enjoyable and fun read with sexy cowboys.

Of all of author Jodi Linton's Deputy Laney Briggs series, this was my favorite. Don't get me wrong the others were terrific but I'm putting this one down as my favorite. It had secrets, undercover work, mysteries revealed, broken trust and hearts, love and sex all consuming, but what I loved the most was the humor. I tell you Laney and Gunner can argue, make-up and have the greatest sex written and they can make you laugh. I don't do spoilers so this is it. I hope this is enough to get you to grab it, read it and review it. You won't be sorry; I bet my britches you'll love it.

I loved it all the way to the end

About the author

Jodi Linton grew up across the street from a cow pasture, where she was likely to been seen
selling Kool-Aid in a Dixie cup at ten cents a pop, or inviting neighbors over to watch one of her
plays staged on her father's Bass boat. As a voracious reader, she fell in love with mysteries,
especially ones with witty, spunky heroines—which spawned Laney Briggs, a smart-mouthed,
Small Town, Texas deputy sheriff, in constant conflict with her on-again-off-again Texas Ranger
boyfriend.

Linton lives in Texas Hill Country with her husband and two kids, and can usually be found
cozied up to her computer, escaping into a quirky world of tall tales, sexy, tight jean wearing
cowboys, and a protagonist with a sharp-tongue quick enough to hang any man out to dry.
