I absolutely love this series, but it has become so incredibly easy to figure out the plot lines. it feels like character regression in some instances as they seem to fall for simple tricks that are all to obvious.

This was an amazing book. When I found out that Halt was descended from the royal family of Hibernia and was supposed to be the king of Clonmel, I was like REALLY?!?! because I thought he'd been kidding when he mentioned it in the other book. If not for this book I wouldn't have found out one of the many questions I had, " what was Halts past like?" and now I know, Halts brother is a character that was probably carefully developed and full of flaws. Although he still took part in making this a good book.

I enjoyed seeing a mature Will have the opportunity to show off his Ranger skills. Halts backstory gets filled out more and we get to experience a new culture. Throw in one Horace and you've got a fun journey with some seriously lethal gentlemen. The book is lighthearted where it's needed and progressively builds up to a twist at the end. After reading The Siege of Macindaw, which felt a bit underwhelming, Kings of Clonmel felt like a buffet of fresh air and rekindled my love for this world Mr. Flanagan has brought to life for us.
