this felt like a step away from what the Brotherband series has been steadily building. the whole book is clearly wishing it was at a different and highly anticipated event for fans and rather than be there reveling in the event we all want to see, we're stuck doing a side quest with little to no stakes. The writing left much to be desired. in all honesty, this felt like it was a catch up for new readers, but did not do a good job of reintroducing the cast so it failed in the one job it was supposed to have. I love this series and Rangers as a whole, but this was the weakest read of the whole universe. I eagerly anticipate the next foray into Skandia and the next journey with the Herons, but those looking for adventure will not find a satisfying journey here.
