My great-great-great grandfather was a friend of Grant Thorburn, and I havebeen enjoying reading the semi-biographical LaurieTodd story, especially the part in Scotland. What a great piece of period writing, and the sense of humor is enough to literally make you laugh out loud. Wish this were more well known. Also read Grant Thorburn's autobiography, to see so many parallels.
