He thought it was his dream job. Until it turned into his worst nightmare. . .

When Mitch McDeere qualified third in his class at Harvard, offers poured in from every law firm in America. Bendini, Lambert and Locke were a small, well-respected firm, but their offer exceeded Mitch's wildest expectations: a fantastic salary, a new home, and the keys to a brand new BMW.

Except for the mysterious deaths of previous lawyers with the firm. And the FBI investigations. And the secret files.

Mitch soon realises that he's working for the Mafia's law firm, and there is no way out - because you do not want this company's severance package. . .

To survive, he will have to play both sides against each other, and navigate a vast criminal conspiracy that goes higher than he ever imagined.

The book is a solid entertainment for those who enjoy legal thrillers with fast-paced action and a satisfyingly complex plot. Quite voluminous, the book will keep the reader busy for a few nights and keep him thinking about all the things that could go wrong in the carefully planned runaway of McDeeres' from FBI and the Memphis-based legal practice where nothing is as it seems. A good and entertaining read from an Author who has since published over 20 successful novels. 7/10.

Before I read this book, I read some reviews and it was all hyped, so I sat down for this one. It was good, but I kinda predicted the end and the thrills were not really nail biting or a brain twister or anything... He was really elaborate for the first half and I felt he kinda rushed it towards the end. He said it, but he could have said it better... Am no expert, but this is what I felt

a gripping read, right towards the very end where the protagonist is shown to be at least a few steps ahead of his adversaries. brilliant theme all through out n i can only hope Mr cruise has done complete justice to a very smart n intelligent character like mitch mcdeere.. only wish the author had thrown a bit of light on the aftermath of the completed events..
