About this ebook

This is a true story of a journey to hell and back. In 1994 John Hoskison was a young and successful professional golfer. One night, after a game, he accepted a few drinks. Later, while driving home, he hit a cyclist he hadn't seen, and killed him. Hoskison knew he would never escape the pain he'd caused and felt a prison sentence was justified. As a non-violent first offender, he could have expected to serve part of his sentence in a open prison, but was instead consigned to the toughest in Britton; a place of medieval-like squalor and violence."This is a must read book. Not just an insight into how prison really is but a real life story that illustrates just how quickly your life can turn upside down. There but for the grace of God..." ~John Francome, Author and Champion Jockey."...a searingly honest account. John Hoskison tells it like it is, as opposed to what gets portrayed on TV or at the cinema." ~Professor David Wilson, Professor of Criminology at Birmingham City University; former Prison Governor. That was unbelievable. I'm so glad I read it. As an RN & Cosmetologist, I've had a fairly similar experience. I've done 2 & a half years inside on a six & it still mystifies me how uninformed people are as to the reality of it all. I've been encouraged to write a book about my life as well as my prison experience & I've been interested for quite sometime. It's just all so exhausting to THINK about by the time I get done thinking & talking about it & put a pen to paper, I'm spent. Congrats on your success.

This is a book every school should have in the english deparrment it should be a must read and write up a report for all kids in grade 9 . It could just be the thing that could stop a lot of violent stuff from being so popular as it is in this day and age you see and hear of so many killings and such what is rhis world coming to . This could help open some eyes great read.

This was a very good true story (a SHORT story.) I feel the author had a story to tell about what prison in truely like. I feel duped into thinking I was buying a "book." I've read longer magazine articles.

About the author

John Hoskison is the author of several books.  Some are about his profession - golf.  However, due to a catastrophic mistake he spent time in some of Britain's toughest jails.  Inside - One man's Experience of Prison was hailed as a brave and important book by Sir David Ramsbotham and it has added a great deal to the debate about prisons.

The book is an emotional roller coaster taking the reader through the forgiveness John receives to his eventual release.  It's a must read for anyone interested in how to face adversity.
