About the author

Dr. John Torres is the NBC News/MSNBC senior medical correspondent and an emergency room physician. His reporting covers a wide range of health-related issues across all of NBC’s broadcast, cable, and digital platforms. A US Air Force veteran and retired Colonel who completed a tour of duty in Iraq in 2004, Torres has contributed to rescue efforts out of the South Pole and in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Throughout his career, he has also made numerous humanitarian trips to Central and South America, providing medical care to children in need. Utilizing his combined medical and military experience, Torres also continues to teach NATO Special Forces. He splits his time between Colorado and New York City.
