A short book made even shorter by the enjoyable text. I love historical fictions and this tale was told with wit and good humor. Even tho at war our hero did everything he could to help the patriots win and save lives,on both sides. With chivalry, bravery, cunning and romantic endeavors Dick Shelby recalls the battle. This esquire,Dick Shelby, had values that were pure and honest. Someone wrote all's fair in love in war but these early Americans did follow rules of engagement that were admirable as depicted in the telling of the battle. It was not win at all costs but do win it with honor and decency. This maybe a fairy tale but it is uplifting.Enjoy this old treasure!!
