About the author
Joseph Roth, geboren am 2. September 1894 in Schwabendorf bei Brody in Ostgalizien und gestorben am 27. Mai 1939 in Paris, war ein österreichischer Schriftsteller und Journalist in Wien und Berlin sowie Korrespondent für die "Frankfurter Zeitung". Ab 1933 war er über Wien nach Paris emigriert, wo er in seinen letzten Lebensjahren zunehmend dem Alkohol verfiel. Er führte Beziehungen mit Andrea Manga Bell und Irmgard Keun.
