This book was an experiance. A beautiful, chilling, heartbreaking, as well as heartwarming experiance. It feels like a too perfect mix of fantasy, folklore, romance, and horror. The two main characters love each other so much, and they must survive trial after trial to maintain the vows they made to each other in their youth. It's hard finding a book that conjures up so many emotions while having characters I relate to and love.

Such a unique great read. I have not read many fantasy books like this one before, and I am so glad I read this one. Rivera does an amazing job of subtle world building through the eyes of the two protagonists who are wholly devoted to each other. Do yourself a favor and give this one a shot.

This was everything I've been looking for and everything I didn't know I wanted in a fantasy novel. *chef's kiss*

About the author

K ARSENAULT RIVERA was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, but moved to New York when she was a toddler. While not managing a nutritional supplement store in Brooklyn, K is an avid participant in the roleplaying community, from which she drew inspiration for her debut novel, The Tiger’s Daughter. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her partner.
