I rarely write negative reviews as I generally stop reading, so keep in mind, this is just my highly unqualified opinion. But I felt all itchy and prickly reading this one - it just wasn’t doing it for me. The storylines were all over the place and were extremely far-fetched and didn’t hold water while cast with characters who were too annoying for words, or maybe I can’t seem to find the right words to express my discontent. The main character was painfully exasperating and working my last nerve as she was terminally naïve and living in a death spiral of gullibility while suffering a stubbornly fatal case of denial. Yet the author kept me reading, damn my insatiable curiosity and need for closure, they are a plague and will most likely be the death of me! My friend Shalini has niggles, I have moanings, carpings, grumbles, grousings, and with this tale, I dare say I’ll go all fancy pants with remonstrances. Yet I kept reading, and I will confess - I never saw this ending coming, at all! So I was glad I hung in there, but again, this is just my highly unqualified opinion.

My Review: I love, love, love this author so much. Every time I see she has a new book coming out I just have to read it. Her books are my weakness and I will drop everything I have planned so I can finish it in just one sitting. If you have read anything by this author you know what I’m saying is true. This book is about a sisters bond that can not be broken. One sister is accused of a horrendous act. The other sister trying to clear her name at all costs. But is their love enough? Can their bond be broken? Did her sister really do it? Can she trust her sister? These are some of the questions that are answered by the end of the book. I want to start off by saying you can never go wrong when you pick up a K.L. Slater book. I’ve read many of her books and none of them disappoint. They are like fine wine, they get better and better over time. The characters really did this book justice. At first I hated the main character Alexa. I thought she was passive and very unsure about herself. She did grow on me as the book progressed. By the end of the book I ended up loving her. She turned into a fearless courageous woman who wouldn’t take any slack from no one. Definitely someone I could look up to. The plot was excellent too!!!!! It was a medical murder mystery with a bunch of surprises for the reader. Normally I’m not that into these types of books but the way the author threw all those twists and turns at you made me a fan. Wow, wow, wow on that ending. I would’ve never guessed what really was going on. It definitely was a pleasant surprise just like opening presents on Christmas morning. Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Once again I find myself sitting here writing a review while in awe of K.L. Slater’s talent as an author. There is no book that she has released that I haven’t rated as a 5 star read and The Girl She Wanted is just another one that deservedly gets this rating! K.L. Slater has crafted a story that really had me hooked and caught up its web, unable to untangle myself free until the last page. There was never any doubt that I would be taken on a thrilling journey as is always the case when reading one of her books and this one was definitely a thrilling journey indeed! The story focuses on sisters Alexa and Carrie and how their relationship is tested when Carrie, a nurse, is accused of killing two patients at the hospital she works for. Alexa firmly believes in her sisters innocence, but when under Carrie’s care, sees her daughter Florence get injured, this causes Alexa to wonder if Carrie is as innocent as she claims to be. I love how this story focuses on two sisters and how over the course of the book, their relationship changes from one of strength to doubt as Carrie’s erratic behaviour starts to raise red flags in Alexa’s mind. It also makes you think how you would react if this was your sister in this same position and how you would handle it. As always K.L Slater has created a great cast of characters that are both likeable and unlikable and each play out their roles perfectly. She does a great job of keeping the reader second guessing Carrie and how Alexa’s obsession in seeking the truth, uncovers more than she bargained for! All up The Girl She Wanted is a first class read that is gripping, intense and a real page turner in every sense of the word. K.L Slater has produced another fantastic story that will have you addicted front the outset and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with for us next. It was a pleasure to be able to read and review The Girl She Wanted which I highly recommend.
