About this eBook

An overseas trip is a great idea, rescuing an American War Dog shipped overseas. When Badger tags Kascius for this job, he wants to visit his brother in Scotland at all costs—almost. Yet, at the same time, Kascius never wants to see the woman who he used to love. Arriving home for the first time in five years is a challenge, but nothing has changed. Liam, his middle brother, is warm, caring and still in love with the farm, and his younger brother, Angus, appears to still be a lightweight. Kascius can say nothing good about his relationship with his mother. But Ainsley? Now she’s a different story. She’s still the same beautiful woman he left behind.

Ainsley hopes seeing Kascius again can help heal the rift that still stops her from moving forward in life. She’d been in a bad place back then and still regrets the way they split. However, finding forgiveness, although it might be possible, doesn’t look likely.

Adding to the personal problems, Kascius’s arrival sets off a chain reaction that leaves Ainsley under suspicion of murder, as her world implodes into a chaotic nightmare. Between dogfighting, gambling, and murder, … the pair have their hands full—keeping Ainsley out of prison and Kascius alive. Add in the fate of the War Dog, Beamer, on Kascius’s shoulders as well …

A 3.5 stars. Okay this one is more about toxic family than K9 case, I'm fine though, I love that angsty, frustration, family drama thing, although I wished there's more K9 action, because that's what I was expecting going in. I love the characters, love that second-chance romance trope because they were too young and now they are grown up and wiser, so yeah I love the romance part. For the case, it's a solid one although I wished there's more closure, it felt rushed in the end.

Kascius finally went home on quest to find a missing dog. But it’s not all hugs and welcoming him back. His ex Ainsley is taking care of his ailing mother, but there’s plenty of suspicious things happening that derail chances at rekindling their romance. I didn’t like his spoiled lazy youngest brother from the start and thought he could be trouble. But the plot gets more twisted by the end.

This intriguing and enjoyable read easily kept me entertained with a smart combination of suspense, drama, action, adventure, mystery, twists, emotion, and romance. Kascius and Ainsley were both very likable and I loved seeing them get their HEA. This is my volitional, forthright review.
