About this ebook

Paying down her sister’s debts has left personal assistant Emma Strickland with little more than the thrift store suit on her back. And as if the suckfest couldn’t get worse, she’s forced to get a second job as a waitress to support herself and her cat. At a strip club. Her uptight, sexy-as-hell boss Brody Kane can never find out.

Texas property tycoon Brody Kane hired Emma for her spreadsheet skills, but her prim and proper demeanor sealed the deal. There’s no room in his life for a sexy distraction...and yet, he can’t stop lusting after the delicious Ms. Strickland.

But then he takes an important client to a Chicago strip club and gets the worst lap dance in adult entertainment history. From Emma.

Now that he knows his office good girl has a naughty streak, Brody makes it his mission to uncover her secrets, one illicit, over-the-desk encounter at a time. But Emma is hiding more than her side job, and her final secret could end up destroying them both.

Each book in the Tall, Dark, and Texan series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

A romp of a read that brings on the sensuality. Kate Meader is very well versed at writing stories that are heated and exciting. Taking the Score put those skills on prominent display. Brody and Emma have more going on than just a surface attraction. There are so many secrets that it's a little hard to keep count. I requested an ARC of Taking the Score from NetGalley and Entangled in exchange for an honest review. This story has a lot to offer a prospective reader.

Emma and Brody. The secretary and her boss. She was hired to keep his work life organized and on time. He hired her because she was damned good at her job and he needed her to make sure he stayed damned good at his. But Emma's moonlighting as a waitress at a strip club to pay off her sister's debt. Her boss may not know but he does when she lands on his lap and gives the worst lap dance in the history of lap dances. Except Brody's more than a smart rich guy. He's got the hots for Emma and will do everything in his power to 1)get her to tell him the real reason she's at the club and, 2)keep her in his life. What happens is a game of give and take, with the exception of Emma's secret which isn't open for discussion throughout most of this story. The banter between Brody and Emma was laugh-out-loud hilarious. The comebacks were quick and the conversations bold. Their physical attraction morphed into emotional attraction and attachment. But it was Emma's reason for being at the strip club, her big secret, that really did not sit well with me. To love a sibling is one thing. To clean up their mess long after they became an adult is another. Emma was that kind of sibling. Her devotion and love for her sister were incredible but it irritated me that she went that far for a sister who hardly showed an ounce of gratitude. Still, it didn't overshadow what was happening between Brody and Emma. A quick and easy read where romance and love grow despite complications and outside forces. Brody and Emma make an interesting couple. Their circumstances make them less than ideal for one another but they find out soon enough they are perfect for one another. 3.5* Received from Tasty Book Tours for an honest review

Awesome read!! I do love a hot nerd and this book has one that is sizzling! Brody Kane is a busy man and the last thing he should be doing is lusting after his oh so proper assistant. Lusting he is though but keeps that under wraps until one night he shockingly sees Emma on stage at a strip club. Once he discovers her bad girl side all bets are off but the more he gets to know her to more certain he is that she has secrets. Secrets he's determined to unravel. A book I highly recommend.

About the author

Originally from Ireland, Kate cut her romance reader teeth on Maeve Binchy and Jilly Cooper novels, with some Mills & Boon thrown in for variety. Give her tales about brooding mill owners, oversexed equestrians, and men who can rock an apron or a fire hose, and she is so there. Now based in Chicago, she writes sexy contemporary romance with alpha heroes and strong heroines who can match their men quip for quip.
