Rowe and Vi's Story . . . Leland Rowe was made a wolf shifter by magic when he and some other Army personnel were captured and experimented on by sorcerers. They are now out of the military and in their own pack providing security for hire. Rowe has just finished a mission and is tense and restless. He jumps on his motorcycle during rush hour and weaves in and out of the vehicles on the road, illegally riding down the shoulder when he had no other way to get past them. He was laughing and having a good time. He lost the cop and rode to his favorite bar. He was playing darts with a woman when the bouncer, who evidently had been dating her, tried to force her to come back to him. Rowe stepped in to protect her and a fight started. A coven of witches hires the security team to provide protection for a meeting with a rival coven. Vi is asked by the coven leader to pick up Rowe who has spent a night in jail and bring him and the rest of the security team to their meeting. Vi does not want Rowe as their bodyguard, but she has no choice. The man seems to have a death wish! But what will she do when she finds out she is his mate? Can he convince her that he can straighten out and keep her safe and happy with him?

Leland is a created wolf, made so through magic. He and his fellow soldiers have formed a pack and now run a business providing private security. He and Vi do not meet under the best of circumstances but he has been hired to protect her. Each are dealing with their own issues, Leland being relatively new to the whole shifter thing and Vi with her magic. The chemistry between the two is not something that will be denied but Vi does not exactly trust Leland. Can Leland convince her that he is at a place in his life where he is able and willing to change and settle down? There is a sinister force after Vi so Leland may have his work cut out for him in more ways than one. I loved the characters and the story was fabulously written and very entertaining. My favourite pack of accidental Shifters are back! Their trials and tribulations are racking up. It's hard being a Shifter and knowing absolutely nothing about the world into which you have landed. They've picked up bits and pieces along the way but their knowledge is sorely lacking! Vi has met the pack before as she was part of Em's road crew. She knows that they are just the "muscle" her coven needs when her leader reaches out to her about a business meeting with a neighbouring coven. She didn't expect to pick up Rowe from the local jail though! Leyland may be a reprobate but he can't abide seeing a woman be manhandled - hence the night in jail. Vi may be all prickly with him but she came to them for help, not the other way around. He's not exactly happy that he's being babysat by the "baby" of the pack either! Things quickly go from bad to worse as relations between the covens sour and then someone starts bumping off coven members. Rowe may be "ignorant" according to his fellow Shifter but rival security team but what he lacks in knowledge he makes up for in instinct. Plenty to keep you happy with mates being found, coven politics, and maybe even a little hint at who is behind the pack's forced change!
